Hello All Fellow Tablers
Welcome to the 3rd edition of “Leading from the Chair 2010 / 2011”
Yeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaa.....
That's exactly how I feel right now. Absolutely fantastic. I cannot think of any other organisation I would rather be part of.
Gentlemen, ARTSA, is the one and only.
It has been a fantastic year so far for me. A busy year I might add, but never the less fantastic.
I have tried to get to as many table functions as possible since my induction in March. From the beginning I said I would like to do this and I feel that so far so good.
I have raided a number of tables and functions and the one thing that I have noticed is that there definitely seems to be a more positive attitude towards raiding. Every raid and project I have been to has seen more than just one table attending, in some cases we have had 6 or 7 tables attend the raid or project. This is awesome. The fellowship that has been shared on occasions like this has been explosive.
Two raids in particular that stick out for me is the Wandsbeck 187 Raid where we saw Peter and Germain being inducted into the ranks of Table. This evening was very well supported. We saw Scottburgh, Watercrest, Berea, Westville, Margate, Kloof, Toti, Durban No2, and Umhlanga attend this. Gentlemen, 9 tables in full force. We were close on 40 members in the Wandsbeck clubhouse. Fantastic.
And what a better way to be accepted into table for Peter and Germain.
The second Raid is the “Mini Area” as Belinda Thompson called it. My raid to Kokstad 35. I have always seen in the past that when a raid takes place to either Kokstad or Sani, they are never well supported. This was not the case on this one. Besides myself and Area Vice Jeron taking the long road, we had Toti, Watercrest, Port Shepstone, Margate and Matatiele support this raid. We were all home hosted by Kokstad and we were shown true Table Hospitality by this table. I encourage every tabler out there to make the effort to raid Kokstad at least once before you get axed. A personal THANK YOU to Richard and Belinda Thompson for opening their house to all of us.
“Back to Basics” this has been a phrase popping up every where. I support this right to the end, because I think this is what has given this area a new “drive”. We have put our prides in our pockets and gone back to the true values that this organisation was founded on, FELLOWSHIP.
I see more and more tables concentrating on fellowship and you can see the difference it has made to them as friends and as tablers. True bonds are being formed. Once these bonds are in place, everything else, like projects, fundraisers etc just fall into place. I urge you all to keep the “Back to Basics” attitude and don't loose focus of who we are and what we stand for. Well done guys.
A very positive outcome from the above is the fellowship that has flowed onto our ladies and kids in a lot of cases. We are now becoming a family of friends. And as families we can take things to a new level.
Now a message to our legs out there..... I am extremely happy to see the ladies circles that are being created. I have noticed more and more ladies getting involved in their own projects to support the community......Gill Brunings driving the hand bag project in aid of Jessica Fjord, Laura Williman, the driving force behind the Scottburgh ladies, the Toti girls getting into action, just to mention a few.
Ladies, don't be scared to get involved, as much as some of us wont admit, but this organisation depends hugely on you for support in projects as well as your man. A happy wife gives us a happy tabler.
I hope you are happy with this edition of SCAN. I certainly am. Myself and Henri have been at the grindstone to publish a SCAN that we know will bring home the STAN ANDERSON TROPHY. You will notice a lot of new content in the SCAN and hope that this will continue with the years to come. Thank you to everyone who have contributed to this. Enjoy it.
Well that’s about all from me. I look forward to seeing you all at upcoming raids and conferences. Please keep up the positive attitudes and lets make a difference.
