Leading from the Chair - May 2010

Hello All Fellow Tablers

Welcome to the 2nd edition of “Leading from the Chair 2010 / 2011”

Well, that’s ARTSA done and dusted.
What an amazing time was had by all at this ARTSA. This year was the largest in numbers for the last 9 years and this led to endless opportunities for fellowship, and trust me, every single one was seized.
I am sure there will be a number of stories told at the next few socials of funny incidents which took place over the ARTSA weekend. I am sure some will be from your Area Vice Chairman sharing his experience during the 14hour road trip he endured with fellow tablers

I urge every one of you in the NSCA to try and make an effort to attend the 2011 ARTSA. It will be the highlight of your tabling career as far as fellowship is concerned.

The next area event on our calendar is Winter Knights. There has been a date mentioned by ARTSA brand manager for this event, 22nd May.
Besides it being the same night our area social is planned, I don’t think it gives us enough time to organise sponsorships and get the ball rolling. The other thing is, we are supposed to spend the night out in the cold and experience what the homeless and less fortunate experience during winter. I don’t believe that it is anywhere near cold then and should really be doing this in June. The dates I have attentively booked for this event is Saturday, 12th June or Saturday 26th June.

Membership is the whisper in the halls again. This was addressed at ARTSA as a concern nationally. I ask that we all stay ontop of the membership issue in our area and take every opportunity to advertise what we do and encourage dedicated gentlemen to join the organization.
Please just be aware of a few “rules” If you plan on inducting a new member:
• A registration form must be completed and along with proof of payment must be sent through to Jeron and cc’ed to myself.
• Once we have looked over the form Jeron will forward to the Admin secretary who will then issue an ARTSA number and authorisation for ARTSA pack to be dispatched.
• If you would like me to do the induction, please make sure that you have the new inductees pack available on the night as well as an ARTSA pin.
• Please ensure that he and the tables Chairman and Vice chairman is appropriately dressed.
• Myself and Jeron will not carry out an induction if the above is not in place.
• Please also ensure that the inductees wife / girlfriend is present for the induction.
• If the lady will be present please arrange a bunch of flowers for her.

Gentlemen, please support Henri (Scan Editor) in getting the articles and hi-res pics through to him. I guarantee that all table related and above board articles and pics will be printed. It takes you literally 5 mins to send a pic through with a few words attached.
Remember, the SCAN will only be as successful as the support it gets from the area.

The website is an awesome tool to get general information from. Please update us with all upcoming events as well as ensuring that your meeting dates are correct. A number of the articles you send through to SCAN will find its way onto the website. We intend making this website as interesting and informative as possible.
We should be directing interested “wannabe” tablers to this site. The site should be able to give them a good idea of what Table is about. So lets make it happen.

30th May – Comrades Day
5th June – Amanzimtoti Oddball
6th June – Margate Golf Day
9th June – Westville Golf Day
24th-25th July – Westville Fair

Gents, please get out there and support your fellow tablers, and at the same time enjoy the fellowship attached to these functions.

Lastly, and by no means least. We have had several requests from our legs to added to our mailing list, as they would like to be informed of the “happenings” in table.
We have setup a mailing list for them to communicate, legs@scan.org.za, please ensure that your lady has sent her details to Ryan (area secretary) so that he can update them onto the mailing list.
Gents, let this be a fore warning, this mailing list is for the ladies to use and for us to send info to them regarding table projects. This is not a general chat list or abuse list. Keep it clean or you will be punished.
